After spending 32 years at Gold Beach High School as a teacher, coach and counselor, Steve retired to enjoy his summers working as a line medic for the forest service. Since 1970 he has been involved with 4-H, his church and various non-profit service organizations.

His work with Cal-Ore Life Flight and Coastal Home Health and Hospice has given him an insiders education to local health services. He has served on the CHF board since the 1990s. His off time is fill with making bowls from burls, surfing, scuba diving and fishing.
